Check out a few brands that have developed a signature look, making them instantly recognizable for fans of upscale fashion.

I have so many questions about the future. If only there were some way to send a person from the year 2050 back to 2012 so I could pick their brain on things like winning lotto numbers and the fashion trends of tomorrow.

Ok. So my desire to know more about the years to come is for the most part self-serving, but that doesn’t make me a bad person. I just like to recognize things before other people; like luxury brands from a distance. Here are a few great brands that most of you will have no problem recognizing due to their unique, signature looks.

1)      THE BURBERRY PLAID: Considered by many as the flagship label of signature trademarks, British luxury fashion house Burberry is among the world’s most copied labels as its iconic tartan pattern has been imitated, counterfeited and replicated to no end. Best known for its trench coat, the company makes everything from clothing to eyewear and fragrances, and ranks among the 100 most valuable brands in the world, according to Business Weekly.

2)      LOUIS VUITTON MONOGRAMS: Every luxury bag lover has their preference, but most agree: When it comes to style and status, few brands can match the reputation of this French fashion label. Vintage Louis Vuitton bags, wallets and accessories have become the gold standard for sophistication, and its LV monogram has been imitated by countless designers.

3)      CHANEL’S LITTLE BLACK DRESS: Iconic French designer Gabrielle “Coco” Chanel revolutionized feminine style with her unique styles and is largely credited with popularizing “the little black dress.” Earlier this summer, Chanel was on hand at the 2012 Summer Games, as the fashion powerhouse opened a beauty outlet in Covent Garden’s Market Building. The pop-up store, which offers the brand’s complete fragrance and beauty lineup, is scheduled to complete its run at the end of 2012.

4)      HERMES SCARVES: Established in 1837, Hermès International S.A. originated as a horse saddle and harness shop. Now a top designer of leather, lifestyle accessories, perfumery, luxury goods, and ready-to-wear fashions, Hermès has become a favorite among lovers of lovers of luxury labels for their scarves, first introduced in 1937. Hermès 100% silk scarves come in an array of colors and designs, and the detail that goes into each one, such as the hand-rolled toward the front and is hand-sewn in a perfectly matched thread, is second to none.

Of course, these are just a few signature styles that come to mind – for every high-end, upscale fashion house on the market, rest assured that, if they’ve been around for a respectable amount of time, they have a particular look that makes them special.

QUICK QUESTION: Which luxury brand do you feel has the best signature style?
